I read that for ever 2-3 races you do, you should volunteer for 1, and they way how this guy proposed to do it is if you do longer distances, volunteer at some sprints, and if you are a sprinter, then volunter at some HIM or Oly races. It makes sense, as it takes a lot of people behind the scenes to pull off triathlons.

Anyway I have one race worked out to volunteer at, I mean, it worked out well during a recovery week, that I can make to Steelhead, but I am having a hard time finding a second race that will work for me, and I am doing 4 races this summer.... Is it taboo to race and not volunteer at the 2 to 1 ratio? I mean, I am following the spirit of that "rule" and if there was another race to do, I would, but I am just not finding anything. Theres not many tri's around me, and the ones that are near, I do.

I realize a large majority of people don't volunteer, but as an enthusiast, who's very amateur, I feel its my place to do my part I guess.

I'm wondering how many "karma credits" I get per race volunteered. I hit a squirrel this weekend so I'm pretty sure I'm currently running a karma deficit.

You could always volunteer for Kona and then bandit run it...

Cool

edited for sarcasm font (I respect Kona too much to think someone should actually do that).
