Ok...this post is two fold.

1)  People have been asking about how to dismount leaving your shoes on the bike.  Granted, this picture doesn't show my left foot, but it shoes positioning.  Head up, hands on the brakes and the proper bike lean.

2) My picture is on a website!!!

They are socks that say "FREAK".

Plus I get blisters after running 1/4 mile.  I have to wear socks.  Don't hate!

A better video of basic dismount/mount technique:
http://georgia-cross.com/cross%20instructional%20video.wmv

I'd think that for a barefoot dismount, the more classic stepthrough method would be safer for the feet. I just wear my shoes, and still have among the fastest transitions. So, maybe "it's not about the shoes".

ps. Approaching a couple riders several hundred yards into a race, guy on left, still struggling to get in his shoes, kicks his shoe out of the pedal and starts a 180 right in front of/into me. I body checked him back into forward motion, and neither of us went down, but I'm not a real fan of people who leave shoes attached to the bike, but are not really comfortable with the process of getting in and out.
