jlhoward - 2007-05-23 4:39 PM  I'll bring the double baby jogger to wheel her around at post race festivities.

Does that leave a seat free for me then?  Maybe managers ARE good for something after all.

Hey Craig--I hate to tell you, but the first 14 are the easy half. The second half starts as you enter the park and it's much tougher.

I agree. Logistically we didn't get set up for the full ride..... while I was waiting I drove the second half... wow.

Have fun.

HAHA no - we are irrelevant. Case in point, I only have a double baby jogger not a triple... get your own ride

Or - I'll trade your Cervlo for a seat in the baby jogger?

The ride is fairly shady thru the State/National Park (miles 14-20) but full sun otherwise.  Not sure about the run.

We rode it again yesterday. Miles 8, 14, and 24 are the worst.  Think single digit speeds for most people.

78 degrees. If it storms this evening, then maybe wetsuit legal. But a high of 87 today and low of 62 tonight. This will be close.....

Wow.  That was tough.  I was not expecting that bike, even though I drove it Friday night.  Single digit climbs...and something in my drivetrain started going POP POP POP with every climbing pedal stroke at mile 18.

But I finished my first OLY with a smile on my face.  No I didn't meet my time goal, but since I nursed the bike back in (trying to avoid the POP POP POP), then had huge cramping issues on the run, I'm okay with that.

Hat's off to Kings Mountain for really making this a special race.  Every volunteer I saw had a smile on their face, and I tried to speak with every one I came in contact with.  My favorite race I've ever done, no doubt.  Challenging, but hope to do it again.

I absolutely agree--tough course but great support.  My only issue was with the two-way sidewalk for the back half of the run loops.  Other than that it was great.

This was my first Oly as well.  Beat my time goal and a friend who was racing today...that's a bonus

Great job folks !

I rode the first half ( the easy half ) of the bike and drove the second half....WOW.

The hills you experienced on the second half of the bike leg were similar to the hills I "experienced" today in Hickory in the half mary.

I plan on doing this next year.

Again, well done all !
