I bought the new Bontrager Race X Lite TT clincher tires for my Hed3 front and disc wheel. Obviously this will be a race only set up. Does any run tires as narrow as this? If so do they seem overly harsh? Flat prone?

They might be ok if you weigh 140 pounds.  I wouldn't use them myself because I'm closer to 200.

165, could get down to 160ish. I may be selling these on e-bay pretty soon. I'll give them a shot...

Not sure why there is some supposed correlation between tire width and body weight, because they really have nothing to do with each other ..... tire "ride" is all about the tire composition and the amount of air you put into it.

I used to only put Conti Grand Prix 18's on because they were the only clincher out there that could be pumped to 150 psi.  I swore by them (and weighed pretty much what I do now - 170-ish).

My race tires are now Conti. Podium tubulars and they are 19's I believe.

"They" say that 23 is the ideal width for tires and that you do not gain any sort of speed or weight benefit by going narrower.  ("They" of course being the professional cycling community experts).

Take it from a 200 pounder, bigger riders pinch flat more.  I don't even dare go out the door with less than 100psi in my 23c tires.

Understood ....... but I'll ask again, what does tire pressure have to do with the width of the tire?????

In actuallity you usually can do HIGHER pressure with the narrower tires.

I'm 215 and run a 20 tire at 110psi.  I have to run narrow due to clearence in the rear of my frame.  Never had a pinch flat.

I have 2 sets of wheels - 1 set runs 19mm Continental clinchers, the other 23mm Mich Pro 2's.

I honestly don't notice any difference in the ride quality, and my regular route is certainly not entirely smooth and my ride is a stiff aluminum. I always inflate to max pressure and I weigh in right now about 170lbs.
