Comments: BEAR left in the pack ahead of us, Dylan left us when we hit the main street, and the TWINS started off with me. We did a lot of weaving through a big crowd during the first mile. During the second mile, Dakota got a stomach ache, turned green-red-and white.....we slowed down a lot and tried to steady him. He grumped a while, then Dante' had enough and begged me to let him go. {I did with lots of worrying. He carried my cell, was told to call Dylan (who didn't have his cell-oops), to stay with the group, and meet up with us in area F in the stadium. He did fine, he said he just followed the pack, got food, and went to area F to meet up with Dylan}. Dakota and I continued on at a slower pace. He hung on to my arm and hand for dear life. I was afraid he'd pass out for a while. He didn't. There were 4 pugs on the side of the road, so I figured I'd play with them a while so that Dakota could rest a minute. They were darling-I love pugs, I just wish I'd taken pictures of them. We waved to spectators, thanked police, and watched the interesting people. There were men pulling a wagon with music and shots with us most of the way. They were having fun. Dakota took his picture with a bunny spectator. At mile 4 or so, they were giving out hot dogs and beer. The 'devil' serving people offered Dakota a hot dog he took it. The devil said, "Don't ask your mom for permission, just take food from strangers along the roads of New Orleans!" :) Well, the child ate half of the hot dog. Then he picked up speed and ran the next two miles. I chased him until mile 5 and then he LEFT me, the men in my family are something else. :) I talked to a man who'd done New York City Marathon for the last mile, then I ran in. Dakota was waiting for me at the end of the finish line. We made our way to the staduim. We got chips and a drink. The jambalaya line was way too long, so we headed off to section F. We were standing there when Dylan called out to us, they were at the bottom of the staduim trying to stay warm. We thought BEAR was getting food but he'd just gotten back from the car to get his jacket. We were ready to go so we left early. WE WERE FREEZING!!!! Mile 1-13:14, Mile 2-13:48, Mile 3-15:22, Mile 4-15:03, Mile 5-13:44, Mile 6.2-15:18. We stopped in LaPlace for some nasty burgers. Then the men slept while I drove home. I told them they all snore. :) Came home took a nap, cooked chile, and boiled eggs for the EASTER BUNNY! What would you do differently?: Make Dakota train and not let him eat cream filled donuts before a race. Post race
Warm down: There was no warm down! It was COLD! We did get in the car and put the heater full blast. This is usually an extremely warm race, where everyone sweats, and passes out. Not this year. What limited your ability to perform faster: Dakota! Event comments: More food at the end. The only hot food had 2 lines across the staduim by the time we got there. Last updated: 2007-02-10 12:00 AM

The BEAR GANG finally got their 'stuff' together Friday and headed to New Orleans. Went to the expo, ran into a couple of friends, and my favorite vender. BEAR got a new gu bottle, I actually didn't buy anything. :) Went to the same motel we used for MGM, shopped, ate at Simolinas, then had ice cream.
Up way to early after a restless night. (My goofy alarm went off at 4 instead of 5.) Ate, got the boys up and moving, then headed out to the race. WE rode the bus to the start area, along strange route, due to construction. It was COLD and WINDY! We hid along the side of buildings to stay warm and did the potty line shuffle. A few people from the Cajun Tri Club showed up so we visited for a while.
There were a lot of people in costume this year. We missed the gang from last year!!!
Some man was passing by giving out donuts, so of course Dakota and Dante' took one. It was creamed filled, messy, and not good prerace food. We finally went to the start line. Stayed warm with the 'penguin' huddle. The cannon roared and after 4 minutes we were off......
Trying to stay warm. Stretches while in potty line.
