Haha the Hudson is clean- you're funny.

I'm not racing, but I will be volunteering.  Looking forward to it!

Sorry, I should have used sarcastic font.  It was meant to read more along the lines of "the Hudson will be clean when pigs fly."

No Prob, just don't know your sense of humor yet Wink

I know "they" say it's safe to swim and you can eat the fish too but I aint buying it. I'm 30 miles north and I won't swim in it up there (or eat the fish). It might have something to do w/ the Nuclear Power Plant being 35 miles north or GE being 100 miles north or...

Sorry to the OP don't mean to be thread kill. I guess I can understand why out of towners wud do it. It's just not for me. You'll be fine... I think.

The water is not that dirty...Just don't swallow.

Last year though there was a significant amount of debris in the river from upstream.  Apparantly there were storms upstream that caused it.

I did it a few years ago after a rain storm, its not that bad. The walk from the finish line back to the transition area was worse than the swim.

I've heard nothing of the bike course, anyone want to elaborate on technique, tricks, what to watch out for? Start and end as well? I know the joints are exposed a bit which will pop your bottles, what else?

Thanks in advance.

I did the race last year....the one thing I remember over anything is I hit my top speed I ever hit on a bike going down a hill once you enter the bronx...it was a very long down hill....I don't seem to remember many open joints...the think I did not like about the race last year was I was the very last wave to go 2.5 hours after the first.

I am totally psyched for this weekend but not to be in wave 28. To those who did it before and had a late start what did you do between transition closing at 4:45 and the start? Did you just walk the mile barefoot and hang around for 2 hours???? Can I go back to sleep for an hour and come back?

I am sure these will be answered at the briefing this weekend but I have been thinking about it all week.

Good luck everyone! Looks like great weather tomorrow. I'll be the race volunteer on the black mountain bike on 72nd Street during the 1st mile of the run.
