Swim
Comments: I aimed to stay relaxed during the swim, but I think I sacrificed some power in the first half. My turns got very sloppy towards the end, too. What would you do differently?: Practice swimming more. Transition 1
Comments: T1 was long (I don't know exactly how long because the event is not chip timed and I didn't keep track on my watch) because the weather was cold and I had to put on extra layers. What would you do differently?: I can't control the weather.... Bike
What would you do differently?: I'd use my Profile drink bottle rather than the bottle cage for my drink. Transition 2
Comments: The run with the bike was below average because I couldn't feel my legs--they were frozen! Run
Comments: I did fairly well considering I never completely regained the feeling in my legs. Post race
Warm down: Drank Gatorade, then ate at the indoor feed. What limited your ability to perform faster: The weather. Event comments: This is a good small race. They've had bad luck the past two years with cold fronts moving through the night prior to the race. They made some good improvements this year: instituting a "circular" in-lane swim that enabled more people to swim sooner and get on with the race without causing too many "crowding" problems (except for the ace swimmers); they finally got "real" bike racks instead of 2 x 4s mounted on sawhorses, and had bikes racked by number groups instead of first come, first served. Great post-race feed and door prizes. Great participation from all types of folks--lots of young people did their first tris (I'm guessing) at this event. Last updated: 2007-04-14 12:00 AM

Got to Paris around 7 p.m. Picked up racec packet then checked into motel. Moved all gear inside and prepped the bike, race numbers, etc. Ate pasta and drank water. Morning of race I ate instant oatmeal and drank a bit of Diet Coke for the caffeine. Got to Aerofit Center around 7:35 and got checked in, marked, etc. By then it was time for pre-race brief. After first wave went I made one last bathroom break.
None.
