Pre-race routine:

Woke up around 6:30, had a banana and fig newtons. Drove to the race site to pick up packets and had some gatorade and water. Everything was really well organized and easy to find.....
Event warmup:

Walked around, had some water, and stayed warm in the car while listening to some music.

  • 6.21 miles
  • 14m 38s  min/mile
Comments:

Not my best effort and I need all the help I can get when it comes to running. I've just gotten over a really bad sinus infection and pretty much haven't worked out in two weeks...even so...I thought I would give it go and try my best. I immediately felt the effects of not drinking enough water the day before the race...I was dehydrated. Next time I should cut out the diet soda and go for the water!

I'm slow to begin with but with more training I would have probably come in a little faster and been able to run more than I walked.......I pressed through the best I could and it was nice to see James on the final stretch...he came and ran with me to the finish...that was nice.
What would you do differently?:

Train more...focus more time on running......lose more weight and not get sick! :)
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, drank some water, had some pasta and cookies and enjoyed the festivities.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training and weight.

Event comments:

Very well organized and good post race food and festivities.

Great job on finishing the race! And if it weren't for you, I wouldn't be able to run a mile much less 6.2. Way to go buddy, and next year we'll set another PR
