Pre-race routine:

Got to site and registered, used the bathroom and relaxed in the car to stay warm. Got dressed and ready to go.
Event warmup:

Did my Core Endurance PreHab and tried to stay warm and dry as it had started sprinkling.

Comments:

Ran the race w/ TriGirl069 and we decided to stick together for the race. Started slow and planned to drink and walk every 12 minutes. As you can see from the mile splits above this seemed to work and we were able to speed up as the race went on. This was a PB for me by about 3 minutes, without a large perceived effort, I felt comfortable the whole race and felt as if I needed I could have pushed a little harder at times.

However, at the end my legs had nothing left to sprint and keep up w/ TriGirl069. :(
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

Got some H2O, CC Cookies and pretzels and hit the bathrooms. Took in the post race atmosphere for a while then began to get cold, so headed for the car and to get into warm and dry clothes.

Event comments:

This is their inaugural event for this race. I would do it again as the course is very nice, however, they need a couple of improvements, as far as I am concerned.
1.) a couple of porta-Johns at the start / finish (I know there are never enough). But one stall for both for men and one for women is not enough. Just 2 porta-johns would have handled it. (However, they did have lots of extra TP, which was nice).
2.) They need a porta-John on the course somewhere, possibly in the Depot (which you pass three times during the race).

I realize this is the first time for this event, and I think they did a great job. I also think that because it is a race organized and run my runners and triathletes, these issues will be fixed in future races.

Course: 1st 5K was pretty much up hill, then came back down the next 5k. The next 1.5 mile was basically straight up, luckily we then came back down this, then the finish was fairly flat w/ one hill about mile 10.5. Pretty scenic course and if you can handle the uphills and cruise on the down hills it can be a fast course.
