Event warmup:

swam for about 30 seconds before they called the 50-54 men to the on deck circle.
Swim
  • 27m 22s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 40s / 100 yards
Comments:

Great swim. A little traffic at the beginning but I swam through it and didn't have much trouble. Started to daydream and kept swimming into another swimmer. One of us wasn't keeping a straight line.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

A little slow getting out of the wetsuit and getting my socks on.
What would you do differently?:

Practice more without socks to get used to running sockless.
Bike
  • 1h 21m
  • 24.85 miles
  • 18.41 mile/hr
Comments:

Started a little slow on the bike but once I got comfortable settled into a nice pace and was at about 20 mph average. At about mile 17 heard a thump, thump, thump at my front tire and then the dreaded pop and hisssssssss. Changed the tire quickly but had a difficult time getting back on the road with all the bikes passing me. After that my legs were really tight. I didn't realize how hard it would be to get going.
What would you do differently?:

Watch out for the turn with the big dip right before the water bottle hand off. That is where I think my tire got messed up.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Run
  • 00m
  • 6.21 miles
  •  min/mile
Comments:

BAD!!!! Started out with a stitch in my side and then lost all my energy at about mile 2. Then it was survival mode for the rest of the race.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more on bike.
Post race

Hella swim, and yes, I can commiserate on the bottle exchange placement.  You could completely lose lunch, a spare tire and all the change in your pocket around that curve. It wasn't cool....

Fantastic result otherwise, and it was fantastic to see you again.  Nice work, Bob.

You're in your fifties?!  Damn, why am I the one with 1/4" of hair on my head and I'm 40?

Great race, and great to meet you and Sharon.  Now that we're nearly neighbors, we'll have to do some rides, that sort of thing.

Nice race Bob!

Great to see you and Sharon again ... keep forgetting we're not neighbors anymore.  Give me a heads up next time you'll be in the dreaded Boca-burgh!

Good race!

Nice swim and great bike considering you had a flat....I worried about that as I had two tube issues in transition.

Never really thought about how my legs would feel after time on the side of the road changing a tire..not surprising they'd get tight but never even considered it before.

Run was tough but you guys got to go earlier and run when it was cooler than us women.

Congrats on a excellent race!

2:54 with a flat.  Damn you're fast!  Sorry about the ride mojo.  Sounds like you put things back together though and got back into it.  Grats on the finish Bob!  It was great seeing you and Sharon once again.

SUPER race and great to see you again!

Flats SUCK!  There should be a "flat changing time" section of the RR.  One race it was the only thing I PR'ed in all day!
