Hello, my name is Jon. I have decided to do a triathlon, I like the idea of the challenge. There are not any tri's going on in my area so right now I am trianing. I am planning on moving in a couple of month to Okinawa, Japan where the weather is warmer and a greater opportunity to do triathlons. I feel that my max distance would be a olympic distance. S until the day I enter in my first triathlon I will be training.

JonnyP,

Welcome to The TSpot. The weather is warm here in Okinawa. I have just recently gotten interested in Triathlons. There are actually quite a few events spread out throughout the year. Some are on the local military bases, and others are local events. There is one comming up called the Izena 88 (2k swim, 66k bike, 20k run). The race is on October, but the deadline for entry has already passed. They have the race every year, so I'll probably do it next year. I am training right now for the Ishigaki Triathlon. It was held in May of this year, so next year should be about the same. There is a Yahoo Group that I check every once and a while that you might be interested in. The name of the group is Okinawa-Multisport and there is usually information regarding the various events that come up here along with entry information and costs of the races. One other event that is coming up is a bike race. It is called Tour De Okinawa. They have various races. There is an 80k course, 120k course, and 200k course. I think they also have a 2 day event that is about 300k and you ride completely around the island. The deadline for entry in the Tour De Okinawa is September 30 and the race will be held in November.

Good luck on your Tri training.

Jerry
