A friend of mine who did it last year said there was a change tent, but it was co-ed pretty much.  ah well - I'm still changing out of my bike shorts, so if there's no tent, then I guess someone gets blinded by my white bootay!

Gettin nervous now - 5 days out, and I feel like there is so much to do!  There really isn't, I suppose, but it sure feels like it!  Can't wait to just get to CA on Wed and put my feet up and relax.  Getting there is half the freakin battle it seems like.  Worried about the bike getting through TSA, then through baggage claim, then finding my way out of SanFran, worrying about what, when, how much to eat, blahblahblah.....think I'm making myself a little nutso..

See you guys at the Expo hopefully!  I"ll be wearing a T-Shirt my girlfriend made - says "Team Farrelmone".  I'll explain in my blog....

They had changing tents at 70.3 last week, so I would think they have them on the full. On the info on the half they never mentioned the changing tents, so maybe it's the same on the full info. Last year I volunteered at the full and did see a guy change at t2 by his bike, he had on some tighty-whities, so technically he was not nude in public.

Denny-
Don't freak out too much. The way the water works in the area is based on a dam system. Bascially they open up the dam further up in the valley every so often and this cools the water in the Russian River (I was up there on 3 different training swims and they explained this us). They opened the dam a few days before the race day last sunday so the water temp dropped to make it wetsuit legal. I'm guessing they will do the same for the full. Granted, if the water further up stream is heating up, the temp will not drop, but this week has not been too hot.

Last year I volunteered at the full, which was right around a heat-wave and the race was still wetsuit legal. I'm guessing you'll be allowed to wear your wetsuit on race day. If not, the water is great, I just did 70.3 last week without a wetsuit and the water was felt great!

Changing tents. I think yes but I honestly can't remember. Seeing as how I don't have enough time to use one I just wear a tri- top and shorts throughout. How are you feeling? How did the ride go?

Gale4s - 2007-07-30 1:40 PM How are you feeling? How did the ride go?

Feeling decent enough.  Still some congestion in my lungs, esp. after doing a fairly (short but)intense run yesterday.  Going on antibiotics for the next 5 days.  That'll be as good as it's going to get.

Ride was great.  Just took it nice and easy.  Always helps me to get familiar with the course beforehand.  The roads are in very good shape.  Was fairly warm (esp. for SF person like me).  My new bike rides like a dream

Antibiotics should kick in on Wed so by Sat they'll be fixin you up pretty good. Glad your ride went well. Is DW ready for this one?

Hey Denny, just breathe. The swim is quite comfortable- The two times I've raced up here, I didn't wear a wetsuit. Think of it not as worrying but obsessive planning, LOL!

Right! There are only 4 of us doing the whole thing. The other 9 are doing relays. Let's hope the swimmers don't get too rowdy as they'll be done within the first half hour and we'll have 5+ to go. Or, let's hope they do... it could make it very interesting for the rest of us.
Good luck to you!

You are all lucky the weather is not a repeat of the Vineman 70.3 weather.....it was hot! 90s plus. Have a GREAT race!

Just aheads up: Be careful coming out of T1. Immediately after the bike mounting line is a small little hill....if you are not set in the right gear you will be in a bit of trouble....

At Vineman 70.3, riders went down causing a little back-up......if it is clear.... clip in and go for it...... I ran the bike up the hill away from the trouble by staying on the right side closest to the curb....... past about 15 people struggling to get up the hill and around the mess.

Also be careful at Mile 4 or 5 when you make the right turn on to Sunset from River Rd. It is a sharp right with a little nasty down hill...... if going to fast, you won't make the turn. It was another spot where a couple of riders were down.

Have a GREAT and a SAFE race!
