It's still too early to say I'll be completing it for sure, but I AM signed up for the 70.3.  The full IM is still a couple of years away for me.

Not quite ready for the full yet, but I'll be there for the 1/2 (Barb's race, actually). My friend is getting married and that's what she wants to do for her bachelorette party?!!

Hi Jenny.  I signed up and it'll be my first 140.6 race.  I decided what the heck.  I do have the AIDS ride in early to help build my base and I just finished Wildlower.  Have you signed up already or just considering it at this point?

I'm with you bshehan. Vineman 70.3 will be my first. IM later! Actually looking at doing two or three 70.3s in 2008 and a full in 2009. IMCDA or IM Arizona(?)

Don't kick up too much dust when you scream past me at Vineman! I offered to sweep the course before they cleared it! I'm just trying to figure out how to run and carry a broom for 13 miles! :p

I've got the older part down pat already...wiser, not so much

Uh, when you put it that way (2 months to go), it sounds awfully close...yikes!

My calendar on my desk tells me it's 8 weeks.  Yikes.  That little red number in the corner of each week is the best motivator.

Oh, and I should say that if any of you folks want to come up for the weekend and pre-view the course, I'm always up for a ride/run.

I'm in for the full Vineman! This is my second attempt. Last year I had a wreck coming out of T1 with oh just little olde me and my bike. Then I had some tire issues and gear problems from the wreck- however- I finished bike but after the cutoff.

I'm back to finish what I started, LOL!

Is this your first?

Hey Gale:

I'm doing Vineman HIM. If T1 is at the same locations for the Vineman IM and the Vineman HIM, I received this bit of advice coming out of that transition:

1) Keep your pedal clip covers on.

2) Walk/run the bike up the small hill / driveway area(?)

3) Mount and clip in up on the road.

I will be seeing the course for first time at the end of June....so I'll have a much better picture of that little hazard spot.

I received that advice from two separate team members that have competed on that course. I plan on heeding their advice.

Hope that helps.... you might have some insight or be able to validate if that is a good approach.

Definitely take that advice. I wish I could blame it on biking shoes- I have cages! I was actually wearing running shoes- slipped on some gravel/sand- and just intertwined myself with my bike- no one else just me. I can joke about it NOW. I would definitely take the start hill OFF the bike and clip in up top. I mean it's a very short and steep hill but it's a little cramped with everyone trying to get up and out. So no use asking for an incident.

I'm going this weekend to get on the course. I'm soo exicted! You will LOVE the course. It is absolutely beautiful. I can't wait to get out there

How about you?  Are you feeling ready?

I'm feeling kinda anxious. Today is an rest day but I think I'm gonna do a full swim some time before midnight. (lol) This year is my second Vineman attempt.

Sorry you're sick but better to get the germs out of the way now rather than any closer to race day. SO you did Wildflower huh? I hear THAT is the hardest!! Have you done this one before?

This is my first 140.6 race, so I don't know what to expect for time.  First level goal is just to finish.   I came down sick after Donner Lake tri so I haven't worked out in almost two weeks!

I know the feeling of being off for 2 wks- When I went up to Santa Rosa for some training at the end of June- it went horribly. Just because I didn't want to make my parents wake EARLY and take me here and there for what I I I needed (they were on mini vacation). So I ran at 2pm in 90 degree weather and was completely dehydrated even the next day- so my full swim/72 mile bike brick was cut off at 25 miles!! I was in a funk for 2 weeks after that. I had really good momentum until then too- but finally let it go and started to get back in to the swing- decided that the last 3 weeks would be intense workouts but less often then before. Any tri-coach would probably say that is NOT a taper but I felt quantity was needed. I feel good but crazy nervous. And I've NEVER been nervous before a race.

From your race log- you'll be finished, celebrated and falling off to sleep before I get done. Where are you staying? Did you go to tcourse at all? Who's coming to cheer for you?

I'm staying in Sebastopol.  Earlier this year, i did check out where the swim was and drove part of the bike course and the run course.  Tomorrow, DW and I are going to bike the loop part of the bike course so I know what to expect.  DW will be jock strapping for me at the race.

This distance is new territory for me and I am bummed about getting sick, but I'll have to trust in all the training that came before and hope for the best.

Where are you staying?  When are you getting into town?  Who'll be cheering you on?

Just rest and stay hydrated- you will be a-ok. You are feeling somewhat better right?

I'm staying in Santa Rosa. We get in on Thurs night. My mother and a friend of mine are going to be my sherpas- AGAIN this year. They were with me last year when it all went wrong so it's kinda cool they are coming back with me for "unfinished business".

Donna or Abbie or anyone, can you tell me if there are changing tents for the transitions?  I can't find anything about it, so I'm guessing not.  What do others do?
