I bought an entry level fuji bike about 1.5 months ago. I am now wandering through bike shops and believe that I made the wrong decision... my bike is really heavy should I save my pennies over the winter and get a completely new bike or just start buying some carbon components for it????
:-(

What model Fuji did you buy? Ace? Finest? Newest? Save you pennies AND your dollars. Remember that when you buy and entry level bike, you not only buy a bike with components from the lower end of the spectrum but a frame and a wheelset from the lower end of the spectrum. You COULD put carbon parts on your any entry level bike but to what avail? It might be like trying to soup up the family sedan?!? Possible but why?

I also bought a fuji bike this summer. Mine is an ace. I have found it pretty effective, but do feel at times that I should be moving quite a bit faster. I am currently an undergrad student at the unviersity of richmond, so money limits my choices a lot, but I was wondering how much of a difference is there between the fuji ace, and something in the 700 dollar range? My thought was that putting 400 into a reasonable bike for my first couple years of the sport would be a worthwhile investment. Would you suggest adding components to the bike, or looking into a different one?

I too bought a Fuji Ace to start with...not knowing what it was I needed or was looking at. After only a few months I realize it would have been better to wait a little while, or spend more, and have gotten a better bike. There are some great bikes out there in a reasonable price range...even used. After moving up to the NEast....with hills...I realize now why light bikes ARE important...why a good component set IS needed. I'm saving to buy a new bike next season...I feel your pain brother...hold out and make due for now...it'll be worth it when you go that much faster on the new one

I ALMOST bought a Fuji Newest 4 months ago- took a deep breath- went over budget and bought a cannondale instead-r500 sport- and am SO glad I did- I LOVE MY BIKE (Her name is Pearl)-

I think Machievelo is right- save your money - for your NEXT bike- and think about selling yours before next season...it's a fine bike for many- but sounds like not for you for tri-ing.
Just thoughts- from a non expert!
