Pre-race routine:

Spent the night in miami at the Hyatt...best move ever. Went to sleep pretty early like at 9ish....got up at 4:30 and ate a power bar. Went to the race site ,set up transition and met up with otehrs rom my training group. Also met Big O...great to meet another BT'r!
Event warmup:

Waded around the water....this water is disgusting and I won't race in it again. there is sewegae seeped into it and it smells disgusting nad there is trash floating in it. Ugh...

The run from the swim to the transition area was a beach run about 400 yards...seemed like forever! But, I was fast once I got into transition.

That hill killed me..All I kept thinknig was that I wanted to get off nad walk my bike. I thought my legs were gonig to go up in flames. And my computer actually said it was 13 miles..I think the course was marked wrong!

Awesome to meet you yesterday!!!  You did great  - I am very envious of your run times. 

 

I was hoping that the smell was low tide, at least i told myself that.  Imagine .9miles in it!

I saw Owen yesterday, he told me you were there..sorry we didn't meet.  I didn't know that's what the smell was from!  Great job on your race!  The bridge is a killer-the miami folks have one up on us for training.  Sounds like you had a good time.  Hope to meet you at one in the future.

Great race, Jamie!  I'm thinking I saw you a time or two at the race after looking at your picture.  We had fairly similar times, so it was possible we "crossed paths".  Wish we could have formally met.  I, too, was thinking the water was just a normal ocean smell of lovely fish and sea creatures! ha  I think I'll keep that thought as I'm planning on doing the Triology in June, July, and Aug. in preparation for the Disney olympic!  Thanks for your post on my race report.
