Pre-race routine:

Got up at 3, drove to the bus pickup and had a mixed feeling about staying on the bus (meaning further up the canyon) and getting off. They dropped us off about an hour before the race and it was cold
Event warmup:

Not much, sipped water and tried to stay warm without spending much energy. Used the port-a-potty and walked to the start line

Comments:

The first 19 miles were great, the last 11 miles were very tough. Started with an uphill that I walked and then hit the wall with out 7 miles left an just tried to will through. Walked about half of mile 24 with walking about 10 minutes. Beat what I thought I would do 4:30.
What would you do differently?:

Besides train more

Find a bag and wear more clothes at the start
Find a long downhill and then run back up it.
Post race
Warm down:

Got osme food and water. The wife gave me a short massage

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training and I am a slow runner

Congratulations.  You just completed a marathon.  Only a small percentage of the people in the world can say that (although the percentage on this site might be significantly greater).

Way to go.

Congratulations on completing the marathon! Looks like a pretty solid time too. With 16 miles of downhill to start with, it's no wonder your legs were feeling it at mile 24. Those downhills are tough on the legs.
