Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 6am, we stayed at the dorms so I ate with some of the other racers, pb sandwich and a cup of coffee. Got my chip, body marked, set up my transition area and waited to warmup.
Event warmup:

I have never warmed up for a race before, so I had planned to do it for this one. Rode for 20 minutes, did a few super-spins and high cadence sets. I did a fifteen minute run, mixed some strides in with it. My plan was to hit the water about 10 minutes before my wave to warm up. I had not counted on how hard it was to get a wetsuit on when you are sweaty! I had the stupid thing on except for the arms and my wife comments "has the zipper always gone in front?" DUH!! Now I'm freakin because I've already heard the horn sound twice, I think I'm in the 4th wave and was pretty sure that I would miss the start. She helped me out and back into it, calmed me down and I made it on time. No swim warmup but my heartrate was already up from fighting with the wetsuit anyway.
Swim
  • 14m 14s
  • 820 yards
  • 01m 44s / 100 yards
Comments:

My plan for the swim was just to let it all hang out, no holding back for the bike or run. I had a good swim, it was a little tough because of the amount of people that were all over the place, I don't mind swimming in a crowd but because of the chop there were more people not swimming or stopping than usual.
What would you do differently?:

The only mistake I made was after I rounded the last turn buoy I should have angled it better, the wind pushed you out a little. I corrected and angled more towards the start but I'm sure I lost a little time doing so.
Transition 1
  • 01m 42s
Comments:

Had a good transition, passed a couple of people in the chute, no screwing around this time.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 39m 59s
  • 14 miles
  • 21.01 mile/hr
Comments:

I felt good on the bike, I got passed by 2 guys in my age group. I mean really passed, like I was standing still. I passed lot's of other people to make up for it:)
I had one really close call where the guy was riding on the right and all of a sudden sat up, grabbed his water bottle and weaved out into the middls of the road. I'll bet I missed him By about an inch!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 2
  • 01m 25s
Comments:

Had a pretty good T2, again my plan was to just go, never mind catchng my breath.
What would you do differently?:

I need to replace my running flats, they are getting harder to get into.
Run
  • 22m 30s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 14s  min/mile
Comments:

I felt good on the run, I had no watch so I was trying to run by effort. I was pretty happy with it. That may have been a PR time for me in a tri, if not it was close.
I think I saw EllasDad out there, I did not recognise any other BTer's
What would you do differently?:

I could have pushed it a little harder on the run.
Post race
Warm down:

Went back to the finish to cheer on some fellow Y tri-clubbers.
Cold beer, hot shower, man that felt good.

Event comments:

This is the first year I have done the sprint, It was a fun weekend. I had a great time working the 1/2 on Saturday, got to see Bostic, missed everyone else. Great party on Sat night.

Nice race......those times are impressive!! Considering you have not biked as much as the others, that's one heck of a bike split!!
