Wish I could participate, but I think I'll barely be ready for my upcoming tri in July, since I've just started training.  Good luck if you go!

This is true! I think it tops out at 450, so it shouldn't be uber-crowded.

See you there!

I had a great time - awesome race too. 8th overall! If I wasn't moving, I would definitely race GJCC again next year.

Congrats on the 8th overall. I was 178-179th, but I had a great time. I lost my breath on the swim, but I finished in less than an hour, barely, but that was my goal. I will definately do another when I can!!!

Probably wont be doing it this year but have done it before. great race! It does have one pretty good climb on the bike but besides that I highly recommend it and any other Team Magic races. This one is very beginner friendly overall. Good Luck!

My race schedule is pretty full this year.  Would be a fun tri to experience though!  Is that the GJCC outside of Bellevue?

Thanks,

The Mach Tenn in Tullahoma on June 7 was going to be my first Tri. I went ahead and registered for the GJCC as well. It should be a good warm up for the Mach Tenn and still give me 2 weeks to recover.

I was going to give you a shout. You post on the Blue Raider message boards don't you? If you do you probably know KAjunRaider. I'm trying to get him to join me for this tri.

I am "blueraidermike on the board...We may have to get some BR Z gear for the Tris.  I will probably do Mach Tenn as well, its probably my favorite race.   The swim is long for a sprint, the bike is pretty fast and the run is hilly - but then the pizza at the finish is waiting for you...

Anytime you want to go for a ride or run, let me know.  I will probably go swim in open water one time before Mach Tenn.  There is a safe place I found of Percy Priest that you can swim and not get run over by boats.

Sounds good. I am not ready for an open water swim yet. I am still struggling to go 300 yards. Hopefully in the next month or so I will be ready. I've been swim training at SportsCom. Trying to get in 3 days a week, but I have just started in the past couple of weeks. Most of my time before this I have ben concentrating on the Country Music 1/2 Marathon.

I run on Saturday mornings on the Greenway with a group running for Special Kids. This is my group for the Country Music 1/2 Marathon. Since this race is this month I will be losing them as training partners, I will then need new training partners. Do you live in M'boro?

BRZ,

I do live in the Boro.  I am one of the running coaches for Team in Training, its the smaller group that meets at General Bragg...

On your swimming, one suggestion is to have another stoke such as breast stroke.  Right now swimming freestyle may be hard, but I would suggest swim 50 yards freestyle, then 25 yard breast stroke, then 50 Freestyle.  This will slowly extend you time of continuous swimming.  Then the next week swim 75 free, 25 breast.   I know my first tri race I was nervous about the swim but once I got out there I would breast stroke to catch my breath if I felt uncomfortable and had so problem.

Right now, the water is too cold outside.  Sometime in mid may.  What we can do is rent a kayak from MTSU and take it out.  Have 2-3 folks swim, one in the kayak and then switch up.

If you have any questions about training, let me know.  I have done a couple Ironman events and serveral other distances - not an expert but have been around the block.

Wow, I didn't realize you had so much experience. I would love to train with you, but at the same time I doubt I am anywhere close to your skill level. I appreciate the swimming advice and any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have seen Team in Training at General Bragg. I will look for you tomorrow.

BTW, I just noticed that Massaro's son and daughter have signed up for the GJCC.
