Subject: RE: broken toe You all need to suck it up and go get an x-ray.
Fractures of the smaller bones in the toes are nto a big deal and heal in about 6 weeks, but any fracture that extends into a joint, especially the metatarsal joint...the joint at the base of your toes, can cause continued pain long after it heals. Especially if the fracture involves your big toe.
There may be absolutely nothing you can do to treat it and the doc many say, "do whatever doesn't hurt", but on the slight chance that you may have a fracture of a foot bone or a fracture into a joint you should go get an xray if you guys are still in pain.
Unless you don't mind a lifetime of arthritis in your foot.
BTW, you don't need to go to the Er for this, go to an urgent clinic, or just call your doctor and ask for an RX for a foot/toe xray b/c you think it's broken. If you can swing that, it will be faster for you and less expensive than gong to the ER. Of course if that doesn't work, then an ER will obviously be able to take care of you. |
