Doing Steelhead this year, but im not too familiar with the area. Is anyone familiar with camping around the area? I was looking at warren state dunes and van buren, but they are probably full. I also found Dune Lake Campground, but ive never heard of it. But they do have spots. Anyone familiar with it?

Hi, ran across your message. I'm thinking of staying at a KOA about 7 miles away from the park. I'd be interested to see what suggestions people might have for other campgrounds though.

There was an article on our paper today about a new campground in Covert (north of St. Joseph).. The grand opening is this weekend. 39397 M-140, Covert, MI

They said to check the www.koa.com site for more information

Check out the thread in the Iron Distance Forum on Steelhead.  Lots of lodging/logistics info over there...

You might search Bridgeman.  I believe they had a city park that allowed camping (this was more than 10 years ago).  It's likely to be overlooked, so might be available.

Also, there are a lot of church camps in the area.  Could be worth a call or two.

Subject: Steelhead - Come Ride the Bike Course
I know its late notice, but this just got organized.  Myself and some Triple Threat (South Bend based Tri-club) members are meeting at Steelhead race site tomorrow morning (6/30) to ride the course.  Meeting at Jean Klock Park at 8:30am and departing by 9:00.  All are welcome.  There should be 2-3 different pace groups.  Also, some are planning to run 4-6 miles of the course immediately following ride.
