I am actually skeptical about the weather.  I prefer staying in my warm bed to swiming/riding in the cold and rain.  :p

but I am also very nervous about Mooseman.  Rumor was that last year they swam at 55F water temp.  I MUST get use to the cold water.

If we are cancelling the bike ride, who are still up for a cold swim tomorrow?  (and let's hope for better weather next weekend).
Me, simpkins, redbull..... akabak?  Max?  Can Max come in a bit eariler?

Well, it looks like 4 out of the 6 are uninterested in cycling in the rain. After the last 2 months I've had trying to train, losing another week because of sickness would KILL my ENTIRE season so I'm going to bail as well. It looks like heavy downpours much of tomorrow.

Regretfully, I am out.

I'm looking at an am ride on Sunday if the weather isn't too bad. Who's in?

I'm up for a swim in any weather. 10 am is fine with me. No bike tomorrow unless it's on my trainer. Any consensus?

10 am that is.  Walden Parking lot.

I don't think I'll be riding tomorrow.  Good enough to get a swim in.

Max can't make it at 10.  So we'll have akabak, csimpkins, redbull, and me.

Well, I'm pissed - we could have ridden this morning. Would have been wet, but not too bad. I'm gonna get a ride in this morning. I would love to join you next week but I'll be in VA looking for jobs. I hope.

Those weren't "smiles" - well, at least for me.  I was trying to disguise my teeth-clenching in a "smile".

Yes it was raining.  But when we got out of the water, it didn't feel like raining any more.

Time to schedule out next swim/bike.  If the weather is good, I suggest going there at 9am to swim, then a 20-ish miles bike ride.

I'm ok both Saturday and Sunday (prefer Sat).  Those who are interested, please state your availability.

I can do either day, but would prefer Saturday as well.  If the weather is better on Sunday, though, I would prefer doing it then.

Hey - who's the guy in the middle of the picture? Did I meet him at JCC last year in Marblehead?

Ok, here's the plan, unless we decide to change it

Saturday, 9am, Walden Pond - this means being "ready to swim" at 9am, so if it takes you a half-hour to get ready, plan ahead.  Time/distance depends on who shows up, but I'd prefer to swim for an hour (~3200 yards).

After the swim, we'll do tri_again's 25-mile bike route.  I'll bring copies of the cue sheet, but we'll stay together as much as possible.

After the ride, those who are interested can grab lunch.

Hope to see you there!

BTW, unless I hear some objection, I plan on extending this invitation to some friends of mine from the Landry's team.  Feel free to do the same.

I won't be able to make it on Saturday, since I'm planning to do a century in NH.  I've signed up for the Boston Run To Remember 1/2 marathon on Sunday, so I may stop at Walden in the late morning / early afternoon after the race is over.  Depending on the weather, I hope to be there on Monday morning as well.  I have a blue Hyundai Elantra with a Thule bike rack on the roof and an Ironman Lake Placid bumper sticker.

I just heard back from a Landry's teammate who is going to join us.

That makes 3!

Any other takers?

Now that we have a plan, I realized that I'm not exactly sure where to meet at Walden.  In the parking lot?  At the beach?  Any thoughts?

We met at the parking lot last week.  That was easy as we were the only 3 there.  There might be more people this time as the weather will be nicer.

The ticket machine at the entrace wasn't working last week.  You're supposed to put in $5 (doesn't take $20 bill), get a ticket and display it on your window.  Not sure if they'd fixed it.  But just in case, bring along some $1 or a $5 bill.

Based on the information that Joanne (tri_again) provided, I put together a cue sheet with distances for each leg and a cumulative distance.

Cool.  Thanks, Scott.

Where is Kimball Farm?  Wanna stop for ice cream there?  About 5 miles from the end....

At 10:30-11:00 in the morning, perhaps not.  But we can see what other folks want to do.

Heh -- it was noon-ish when we hit Kimballs last year.  I had the most amzing mango sorbet...yummm!

I'll be out of town so I'll miss the fun -- but would like to try to do it in June.  Weather this weekend should be great - if not a bit warm.  Have fun
