Anyone familiar with the course? I've never been to Sardis Lake before. I'm a bit nervous because this is my first tri with an 880 yard swim. Any tips?

It's a good race - I've done it the last 2 years. It was actually wetsuit legal 2 years ago, but not last year. You have a 50yard run up the beach to the transition area after the swim. The bike is flat except for one 1/2 mile hill, but it's not very steep at all. The run is nice, too, going about 1 mile out on the park roads, then a 2 mile loop on a trail through the woods, and then back in the same park road. Organization is good, lots of water stops. I would do it again this year if I could work out travel plans.

Thanks for the info. I'm excited now! I love trail runs. Hopefully, all my hill training will help me out on the flat.
How do they start the swim normally?

Thanks,
Jessica

Yes, it's a trail run. I didn't know that until I hit the run the day of the race. I'm not a trail runner but it was still fun. If I remember right I think they start the swim in waves of age groups. Or it may be males then females, I can't remember. The only thing I'm doing different this year is bringing a little bucket to rinse off my feet after running through the sand. Sand in bike shoes was not so fun. Over all it's a good race and should be a great day.

Best of luck!

It has been a wave start the last 2 years. Wetsuit legal 2 years ago, not last year. I don't remember if the waves were done by age group, but I assume they were. The bucket of water at Transition area would be good because you have a long run through the sand to get up to T1

Thanks for the info. It's my first swim this long. I've done mostly 4-600 swims. I'm just hoping I make it through.
Is it a big tri are small?
