Run
Comments: The start was mad fast. Like every other du, people started running far past their ability but when someone fires a rifle in the air, people run. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 1
Comments: I practiced bike transitions several times yesterday and at the course. Today didn't go so well. I came in off the run, pulled off my runners, put on my helmet, grabbed my bike and ran. I ran past the dismount line and all was going really well. I hopped on the bike and peddled a few strokes with my feet on top and one of my shoes popped off. Aghhh! I stopped, when against traffic, picked it up, put my shoes on and rode off. What would you do differently?: Look at tightening the tension screw on my cleats. Bike
Comments: I need to take my bike in for service. I'm having some ghost and double shifting which is a little normal on a new bike. The police did an excellent job of controlling traffic - thanks guys! What would you do differently?: Transition 2
Comments: A decent transition time for me. What would you do differently?: I can't think of anything I would do better. Run
Comments: Here's where it started getting tough. I ran and chatted with Buzz and another guy which helped pull me through the hills. I pulled ahead (Buzz beat me by less than minute). What would you do differently?: I suppose more hill training would be good. Transition 3
What would you do differently?: I broke transition rule number one - don't do anything in transition you can't do while peddling. I refilled up my aerobottle (and I knew what I was doing). Had I not done this, I may have ended up beating Tim (he beat me by nine seconds). Bike
Comments: I really pushed it on the bike and during the second bike my calves were starting to cramp. I need to determine the cause immediately. Transition 4

Post race
Warm down: Walked around and talked to everyone. Event comments: The only reason the race received a "below average" in the "Post race activities" is because the meat never arrived for the grill. There was on the other hand, plenty of beer. My HR breakout is as follows: Z1 00:00:07 Z2 00:00:07 Z3 00:12:48 Z4 01:28:07 Z5 00:09:54 I was pretty much movin' the entire time. Up at 5.00am, showered and consumed oatmeal and sipped Cytomax while milling around for any last minute items.

I have a new rule - find the alternative porta potties. I go about 3 times before each race and I located an alternative pottie a couple of minutes prior to the gun and I'm really glad. I would have suffered terribly had I not gone.
