Overall Rank = 72/248
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 11/19
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 3:30am in order to be on the road at 4. Ate a Clif bar at 5am with those water and another at 6am. Got to the race about 2 hours before the start. Had of plenty of time to scope out routes and such.
Swim
  • 11m 10s
  • 766 yards
  • 01m 28s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was a crazy course in a pool, but not a traditional lap pool. It was a wave start with lots of turns. By the second lap in the pool, the waves were all intermixed and they were still starting new waves. It was pretty crazy and very difficult to get into a rhythm, but was still fun.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 1
  • 05m 15s
Comments:

I have no idea what I was doing that took so long in this transition but this time is pathetic. Both transitions were really awful. I should easily be able to cut 3 minutes off of my overall time by cleaning up my transitions.

Bike
  • 48m 19s
  • 18.64 miles
  • 23.15 mile/hr
Comments:

Generally pretty pleased with the bike portion of this race. I did start off a bit slow as my legs were a bit tired from yesterday's efforts. However, after I was pushing the pedals for a few minutes and started feeling a lot stronger. According to my cycling computer, the route was 17.3 miles with an average speed of 21.5. That is probably a lot more realistic than 23mph based on the posted distance.
What would you do differently?:

I probably could have pushed the first portion of the ride a bit harder, but overall feel pleased with this portion of the race.
Transition 2
  • 01m 59s
Comments:

Once again not at all pleased with my transitions, but I haven't been taking them very seriously and I haven't practiced them at all. What can I possibly expect?
Run
  • 24m 46s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

Given my current run training, I'm pretty pleased with this portion of the race. I started out fairly easy to make sure my hamstring was feeling decent. After a couple minutes I settled into a pace that I knew I could carry through to the end and pushed a bit harded towards the very end.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, just need to start logging more time running.
Post race
Event comments:

I really enjoyed this race. The pool was quite different, but fun and the flat bike and running routes made for a fast race, and everything was well organized. I would definitely do this race again

I can't believe you did TWO races in ONE weekend. That's freakin' hardcore! I don't much like pool swims for tris, but you had a kickin' time!

Then - over 23 on the bike - wicked...run time, also awesome! GREAT RACE!

Will definitely be watching you more - you're CRRRAAAZZZYYY!

But - like I say - lovin' the busy...keep it up!
