Madeira Beach Triathlon
Total Time = 00m
Overall Rank = 505/636
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 18/24
Pre-race routine:

Wake up feeling tired, stuffy nose...ugh!
Forgot to eat, was in a rush, and had to crap - BAD! Stopped at Walgreens, and they didn't have a public bathroom (huh??)...got to race site, they said that packet pickup closed at 6:15am (uhoh - it was 6:30am)...begged my way in, got packet, marked, squeezed in to setup...stood in line for Portolet - ugh! held my breath while doing my thing, yeah...so that was that...oh, forgot to eat...
Event warmup:

Walking all the way down the beach to the swim start...that's about it...saw Terri (BunnyJumper), completely forgot her name - sorry...saw dolphins right next to swim start which was beautiful...tried to clear my nose to get ready to go...that didn't work...
Swim
  • 16m 10s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 50s / 100 yards
Comments:

Went in slow...but,
Great swim, felt wonderful, got a bit stuck behind two girls, but I felt great in the water, my navigation for the first time was perfect...and this was also the first time I could see the bottom of the ocean...that was nice:)
What would you do differently?:

Not get stuck behind the two girls at first, I shoulda fought my way a bit further to the front at the start...
Transition 1
  • 02m 44s
Comments:

Felt very tired running out of the swim, that really surprised me, I took my time in transition...I FORGOT MY SOCKS (wasn't thrilled)...
What would you do differently?:

Not have snot dripping out of my head all weekend:)
Not forget my socks...
Bike
  • 51m 1s
  • 15 miles
  • 17.64 mile/hr
Comments:

I wasn't feeling great, couldn't get in the zone, bad snot all over with nothing to wipe it on...headwind going out, couldn't get much over 16, felt a bit better going back, with tailwind...had a guy with no legs fly by me on the way back...so decided that I shouldn't complain...
What would you do differently?:

Not have so much snot?
Transition 2
  • 02m 50s
Comments:

Took my time, wasn't feeling great (sorry, I'm repeating myself)...sad about my socks...didn't have the quick ties on my shoes...
What would you do differently?:

Not be sick the week before...bring socks...
Run
  • 35m 43s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 11m 31s  min/mile
Comments:

WORST run ever...I actually felt ok coming out of transition, my legs weren't overly tired, which was nice...first mile was right around 9:30...then came the cramp...felt like there was a shovel in my left ribcage just digging into my insides...it hurt...I had to walk...felt crappy for doing it, this was the first sprint I've ever walked...ugh! Then came the sand, couldn't get over the cramp, I was snorting, and snotting, and wiggling all over the place trying to make the cramp go away - it didn't...so, yeah, this was really bad...
What would you do differently?:

Not be sick the week before and not get a cramp:)
Post race
Warm down:

Walking back on the beach to get my sandals and look for my friend Di (di42)...walk/ran to the finish with her...then walked around - they had a great post race setup with a tent, band, beer truck...really nice!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Sick, snot, and cramp!

Event comments:

Very nice race venue, though I think it is crazy to run in sand...my shoes are really stinky right now cause they got sopping wet...
