Pre-race routine:

Run
  • 27m 26s
  • 6 kms
  • 04m 34s  min/km
Comments:

had a good pace going into the race. Wanted right around the 9min mile.
What would you do differently?:

I would have not taken 2weeks off before the race, but I have been in the process of moving!!!
Transition 1

First tranny!
What would you do differently?:

Speed up a little bit...every second counts!
Bike
  • 59m 50s
  • 17 miles
  • 17.05 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

I want to push it more on the bike and gain speed for going up hills. That is my strong point. I worried too much about saving my legs for the run!
Transition 2
  • 01m 24s
Comments:

Faster 2nd tranny
What would you do differently?:

Speed it up a little!
Run
  • 29m 37s
  • 2.65 miles
  • 11m 11s  min/mile
Comments:

OUCH!!! Didn't warm up enough, right calf cramped up bad!!! Still very sore! I had to slow down and strech it out a lot. Thanks to Kelly, she kept me going when I wanted to stop and walk it off a little bit! I was disappointed in this run due to lack of stretching!
What would you do differently?:

Stretch and warm up more.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and stretched

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My calf was horrible! Damn. I also had poor training for the 2 weeks before the race due to moving.

Sounds like a pretty and challenging race route. I'd rather run on grass than asphault any day, I may have to check this out next year.

It took a week for my calves to recover from the Oakdale Du, and I warmed up and stretched a lot. At least in my case I suspect it was lack of brick work more than stretching that caused the issues.

BTW - your total race time shows 8.5 hours. I suspect that may be a bit off, based on your splits.Wink

Nice race, way to gut it out. Seeya at Buffalo!
