Swim
Comments: I swam one minute slower then predicted. Bummer. Transition 1
Comments: I roll up my jersey bottom when I'm setting up my T area to aid in slipping into it. I got the sleeve caught in the rollup and had a little trouble getting it worked out. I also ran with my shoes on this time as opposed to clipping them in prior. I think I'll keep doing that but I need to work on the jersey. I wear a specific jersey for my LBS and really can't change it. What would you do differently?: It was a good trans, and I think I'll alter the sleeves of my bike jersey to help me slip into it. Bike
Comments: I gave it all I had, being mindful that I had a run to do afterward. I passed 8-10 people and was never passed. Good deal. What would you do differently?: It's hard to say what I'd do other then go faster, but I was going for broke as it was. Transition 2
Comments: Decent trans. Slipped onmy running shoes and shades and pounded the pavement. What would you do differently?: I was mindful of my knee but ran a fast pace. It started to hurt a little but I told it it was okay and that it didn't hurt and it stopped hurting. Run
Comments: I felt strong during the run. Like the bike leg, I passed people and was never passed myself. My pace was always under 8:00 and I had a good kick finish. What would you do differently?: I would not have a knee problem. Post race
Warm down: I walked around, talked with those I knew, and did a little stretching. Then I had some recovery drink and some whey protein. What limited your ability to perform faster: It's always the swim. I think I should look for an instructor. Event comments: I'm sure I'll do it again. Last updated: 2007-05-06 12:00 AM

Out of bed at 4:00. I had my pre-race oatmeal concoction and some coffee. Then I mixed up some recovery drink and some whey protein for after the race and gathred up my gear. It helps to have a check list so you don't forget anything.
I wasn't sure what I would do to warmup. My knee had been bothering me and I didn't want to irritate it before hand. The sprint I did last month went very well and for that one a jogged a mile before the race. I wanted to do that again but decided not to. I did jog between T1 and my car a few times while setting things up,and I had no hint of trouble in my knee. I hit the pool when it was time for my heat, and swam a few laps to get my heart rate up before the swim.
