Sunny
Total Time = 1h 33m 57s
Overall Rank = 215/527
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 30/48
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 5:50. Dressed and ate some oatmeal. Left for the race at about 6:30. 20 minute ride to the race left us with plenty of time to check in and set up.
Event warmup:

No real warm up. Just set up transition area and ate a Clif Bar
Swim
  • 11m 8s
  • 500 yards
  • 02m 12s / 100 yards
Comments:

Never got into a good rhythm. Also I had to fix my leaking goggles twice. I felt really winded while exiting the water
What would you do differently?:

Not sure. I cannot figure out why I did not feel strong
Transition 1
  • 03m 50s
Comments:

I took my time so I could try to catch my breath. Also, I did not wear my jersey under my wetsuit and I had problems getting it onto my wet body
What would you do differently?:

Get a jersey that is not so bulky so I can wear it under my wetsuit.
Bike
  • 51m 33s
  • 14.8 miles
  • 17.23 mile/hr
Comments:

First half was rough. Stomach did not feel good and I could not get my cadence up to 90. The first large hill was tough but the down hills that followed allowed me to recover a bit. I should have drank more but I struggled to get water down with my upset stomach.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more
Transition 2
  • 01m 39s
Comments:

Putting socks on slowed me down a bit.
What would you do differently?:

Not wear socks. Orthotics should be broken in so socks will not be necessary next time.
Run
  • 25m 47s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

Not terrible but never felt great.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Got some water and bananas. Found a shady spot and relaxed for a bit. Took a shower and got a burger.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not sure why my breathing was off. More hydration on the bike may have helped me feel better on the run and post race.
