Total Time = 57m 34s
Overall Rank = 21/251
Age Group = M35-39
Age Group Rank = 4/28
Pre-race routine:

Breakfast at 5:30, Mixed cut fruit, bagel, water, gel
Event warmup:

Arrived a late, bike together, 3/10 mile bike warm-up to test set up and gearing
Swim
  • 06m 25s
  • 383 yards
  • 01m 41s / 100 yards
Comments:

Because of the poor race organization, folks did not seed themselves well at all on race day. Event times that were submitted were not enforced. I ended up in a crowd of folks who would not let me by.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe just wait instead of getting upset and getting the heart rate up
Transition 1
  • 01m 2s
Comments:

Very quick transition time even though I doubt that there will be a transitin time shown.
What would you do differently?:

Arrive earlier to get a better spot.
Bike
  • 30m 30s
  • 10 miles
  • 19.67 mile/hr
Comments:

Again, poor race organization. Lots of slower racers who did not know the rules. Rode in middle, on left, etc. Traffic control was okay but got behind a truck that was behind a slowere rider (who started in the pool ahead of me) and had to pass to the left of the yellow line to get around it all.
What would you do differently?:

"Cheat" on the seeding to make sure that I was not trapped behind slower swimmers and bikers.
Transition 2
  • 00m 25s
Comments:

Wow, helmet off while running to rack, shoes on quickly, passed a ton of folks in transition, even the person in my agegroup that I caught in T! and played leap frog with all through the bike course. He took off while I was getting on top of my shoes and when we got to T2 entrance, he tried to ride in too far and jammed up the entry but I shot right by him
What would you do differently?:

Nothing!
Run
  • 19m 12s
  • 2.6 miles
  • 07m 23s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run, can't wait to see the splits
What would you do differently?:

Attack a little harder on the way back.
Post race
Warm down:

Cheering on the others, stretching, shower

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Poor taper (three days putting shingles on a church member's house)

Event comments:

Race was poorly organized. Maps did not show up until week before on the website and then the bike course changed a week before the event and the run course was not the posted run course. Ran out of T-shirts for registered participants, swim start was chaotic and unfair to folks who seeded themselves correctly, awards were given out incorrectly because a 30 yr old was in the wrong division, awards were late being given out because "too many people signed up on race day." water bottles ran out before all registered participants received one, the bike and run courses over lapped each other with cyclists turning left in front of other cyclists and cyclists leaving in front of the finishing runners

You finished 11 seconds ahead of me. I was typing out my race report the same time you were and when I read yours I thought I was reading mine. I was the one that was bumped by the 30 year old in my 45-49 age bracket. I figured I finished 4th so I left... Imagine my surprise. It happened like that at Trideltathon also. I was given the 2nd place award in AG and ended up in 3rd place in AG when results came out on-line. Did you here about the guy who crashed? Ambulance took him away with a possible dislocated shoulder. I checked with 4 other people and we all had the bike course at 10.6 miles They had mats out for our transition times but they were turned off. The splits are on-line now. Race Day Events is very poorly run. I don't think the guy who runs it pays anyone to help. He just uses volunteers and he's always asking for help. Going to do Alcoa Race?
