Swim
  • 12m 17s
  • 500 yards
  • 02m 28s / 100 yards
Comments:

Overall very frustrated with my swim. The time I finished it in was my target time, but I lacked form, stamina and just felt terrible. I need to just rest into my own pace and ignore the rest of the swimmers.
What would you do differently?:

didn't start with a gel or anything. I started way too fast - and got distracted by the turbulence in the pool, excitement etc. I started well out of my intended pace and form.
Transition 1
  • 02m 58s
Comments:

struggled getting socks on.
What would you do differently?:

I completely forgot to eat a gel before the ride - and it impacted my performance later in the race
Bike
  • 41m 21s
  • 12 miles
  • 17.41 mile/hr
Comments:

I rode hard, but didn't match my times for this route during prep, so I'm not too happy about that.
What would you do differently?:

I fell off on the second lap during the climbs. I think the lack of hydration and nourishment started to show a bit here.
Transition 2
  • 01m 7s
Comments:

good time - I was near the run exit.
Run
  • 27m 28s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 52s  min/mile
Comments:

didn't feel like I had much in the tank at that point. But the time wasn't awful, but slower than I would have liked.

When I prepped for the run I misread the map & it was actually .75 longer than I expected (up a big hill). So on balance I can't complain.
What would you do differently?:

better hydration - don't forget sunglasses - better energy supplements

Good job on the race.  Understand the needing to eat before the race thing.  Live and learn.   Way to get this race out of the way and get ready for the next.

Nice work. The bike and run had lots of rollers, especially the bike. It seemed like you were either going up or down with really no flats.

So you know, the bike course was more like 12.7 miles, so you actually averaged more like 18 mph, if that helps...
