Comments: When out strong as soon as the horn went off. There was plenty of running room after about a half mile. Did the first mile in 7 minutes, ahead of PR pace. About this time, caught up with a guy that always seems to beat me in these local 5ks. Decided that he was at least going to earn it today. Picked up the pace and passed him. Hit mile 2 at 14:15--slowed down a little but still well ahead of PR pace. Tried to maintain a consistent pace for the last mile. With a about two hundred yards to go, I could see the clock and knew that I had a chance to come in under 22 minutes (a goal of mine). Gave it everything I had but came up a bit short. Still was a PR by over a minute and I finally beat my "rival". What would you do differently?: Push a little harder in the last mile. I still had a little left in the tank at the end. Post race
Warm down: Walked back aways and cheered on Brandy as she finished. Grabbed some food and talked with her friend some more. What limited your ability to perform faster: Didn't taper for this race and set a PR by about a minute, so I don't think anything did. Event comments: Great race. Definately on my list of local 5Ks to try to do. Last updated: 2007-05-12 12:00 AM

Got to the race early. Talked with a friend of Brandy's who works for the symphony. Got registered and then sat in the truck for a while since it was kind of cool out.
Did some light jogging and some drills (butt kicks and high knees) followed by some light stretching. Did some more jogging with a few accelerations to race pace. Was feeling really good so knew I had a shot at a PR.
