Comments: Overall, rather happy with this ride. Didn't push too hard, generally just kinda enjoyed it. The first 70 miles were really enjoyable, but after that I started to get tired and kinda wanted to be done. I could feel my legs at the end, but overall I'm happy that I got out there and rode, since I've been so lazy lately. My pace is much improved versus a year ago on the same course - last year did 14.2mph over 80 miles. Although, this year I had a road bike and a 12-27 cassette (vs tri & 11-23) - much better for the hilly course. Although also last year I ran ~12 miles the day before. What would you do differently?: Somehow, I have to become a stronger cyclist and I MUST get stronger in the hills. At the end I was riding with this guy - he would drop me like a ROCK on any hills but then I would fly right back by him on any flats or downhills. I DON'T GET IT!!! Especially since I'm skinny, you'd think I'd be proportionately better on hills. This happens to me all the time also, it's not just that he's a good climber or anything. Post race
Warm down: Nothing :) What limited your ability to perform faster: I'm a SLOW CYCLIST!!!!! Event comments: I won't do this ride again. I said that last year, and this time I MEAN it!! It's just not worth it. They need more & better food - there wasn't even any coffee in the morning! (And I really needed some). And lots of little things. It was a semi-scenic ride, but the roads are really just OK. Somebody smack me if I try to do this ride again. Last updated: 2007-06-11 12:00 AM
