Swim
Comments: My best swim ever. I was right in the mix from the start. For the first time, I actually swam through swimmers to pass. Breathing was good, stroke consistent. After Encinitas I was really looking forward to the relative calm of a lake swim. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 1
Comments: 4/15 T1 age group rank. What would you do differently?: Lube my heels. Bike
Comments: Tough one. Lots of hills got to me. Not that they were the Pyrenees, but I was unprepared nonetheless. What would you do differently?: Hill training. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Pretty decent run. I hadn't done much of anything the previous week except eat. I think that ultimately this is what cost me precious seconds. I was a bit out of shape and probably carrying a few unwanted pounds. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Poor bike prep. Also, excess body fat. Event comments: I'd do it again. Last updated: 2007-05-24 12:00 AM

Overcast
Overall Rank = 59/200
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 7/15
Drove an hour and a half down to San Dimas from Lancaster. Left about 4:30am.
Ate a banana, vitamins, advil. Lot's of water.
Prepped the transition area. Had to inflate my bike tires with a handheld pump :(
Swam about 200 meters as a nice warm up. Usually, the swim sucks for me. Even at the pool, the first 10 minutes are always the hardest. I tried to warm up by getting this out of the way pre-race. Also worked in terms of getting me acclimated and comfortable in the lake.
