For those folks who entered the New York Marathon Lottery, the results are posted.

Did you get in or did you get rejected?

Oh, and did anyone here qualify for a guaranteed entry?

I'm in!

Although, I'm not sure if I am going to do it this year or defer until next year.  It's nice to win some sort of lottery.

Well I am in. Well in 2008 or 2009.

My friend who I really wanted her to get got in though. I rather her get in than me since she was marathonless and was leading a marathon training group.

now what marathon can I do in its place?

I was gauranteed in since I was rejected 3 years in a row. I might defer though since a friend of mine didn't get in this year but is gauranteed in for next year.

Got in. It was my second try. All of my friends who tried for their first time, dude, got all rejected. I'm thinking of deferring it till next year. But Lance Armstrong is running in 07?

betsy - 2007-06-12 12:47 PM I am in! This was my 3rd attempt, I am so excited

Aren't you automatically in, regardless, after a third rejection?

Edit: Yes, but that wouldn't be until next year (2008).

Unfortunately, I got in. I only registered this year, because I want to run it in the next couple of years, but I really can't do it this year. I'm thinking I'll defer, but that's an expensive decision, since you pay both registration fees (this year AND next year). Too bad they can't just roll my cancellation to someone else on the lottery list who was rejected.

one of my friends got in last year and now this year. Isn't she lucky. I am very jealous. Though I will admit being 1 week after a 50k I was planning on doing maybe its good I did not get in. though I do not think it will ever matter.

2nd time doing the lottery and did not make it so I may make Philly my second choice. Better for a first timer anyway - flat course.

I may do the required runs this year to guarantee for 2008.

I am in - but via guaranteed entry so I've known since the moment I signed up. I did my 9 NYRR races last year. My 6th race for 2008 marathon qualifying will be this Sunday.

Sucks for the locals. Just about every one in my NJ-based running club who applied and didn't have guaranteed entry got the big fat rejection. The out-of-towners, who'll be spending alot more money, fared much better.

Then again, with almost 100,000 entrants, and a ton of guaranteed entries, the chances via the lottery are getting worse each year.

I thankfully didn't get accepted this year Smile (I've got family obligations that Saturday that would make racing Sunday not a good thing so I registered for the Marine Corps Marathon this year).

So it will be 2008 (third try at the lottery next year) or 2009 guaranteed.

Congratulations to all those that actually wanted to get selected that did get selected this year and to those that wanted in and didn't get, at least with this lottery, unlike Kona, is that you're guaranteed to get in down the road.
