Subject: Spirit of Racine Half Ironman - Roll call
Just finished RockMan 1/2 IM June 10th and I am already looking forward to The Spirit of Racine 1/2 IM July 22. We have a nice size group from Rockford, IL heading up to do this race. I did in in 2005 when the heat index went up to about 110F. Lets hope we don't see that again. Who else is doing the race?

There are a bunch of us doing this race.  Check out Hangloose's log as he has a list of us.  there is also a challenge going on between the SOR and steelehead participants.  Check out the Ironman thread for that.

I'm in too. My first HIM as well. Just got done with a 50 mile ride and a hoped for 8 mile run. Run turned out to be a survival six. But today in Madison area is somewhat muggy and hot. Thankfully overcast though. I'm kind of hoping that long bricks like today get me conditioned for the heat of July in Racine.

I am most worried about heat, sun, and humidity come race day.

I just got my bike tuned and am registering tomorrow, Fri. June 29, to avoid the additional 10 bucks entry.
Sooo, instead of IMWI being my first Tri, it looks like Racine will be! I don't expect much of anything other than to finish.

CindyK and I will be there. It's our hometown race, wouldn't miss it.

Gonna plug the dinner here. I started a thread here on the WI board but also the IL board for a pre-race HIM and post-race Sprint dinner on July 21st. If you want to attend, just reply to the SOR Dinner thread with the number of adults/children who will be there and I will make sure you are added to the dinner list.
