Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4:30 ate some lucky charms, got on the road made it to the park at 6:15. I had picked up my packet the morning before so I just had to pick up my chip and get body marked.

Event warmup:

Jogged a little bit. Did the wetsuit dance. Ate a powerbar gel about 15min before the swim start
Swim
  • 14m 25s
  • 547 yards
  • 02m 38s / 100 yards
Comments:

This swim was much better this race. I started on the outside in the back. I took my time and was able to crawl/breast stroke the entire swim. I didn't have to stop but once or twice.
What would you do differently?:

Still need to work on the swim. This one was much better. I think this will be the last race of the year where wetsuits will be allowed so I might be in trouble.
Transition 1
  • 02m 25s
Comments:

The suit got stuck on my wrists again. The transition was a long run and I was pretty winded from the swim so I had to walk to the area. I forgot my rubber bands so I didn't have my shoes on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

cut the arms of the suit, not forget my rubber bands
Bike
  • 42m 25s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 17.58 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike was good. It was very hilly. I dont have any hills around my house so I was a little worried about them. all in all I dont think it was that bad. The last hill I thought for sure I was going to fall over. I kept her upright and finished.

I had a hammer gel taped to my top tube. Took it at the turn around. When I pulled it off the tape, the packet ripped down the middle and sent chocolate gel everywhere all over my face, legs, shoes, hands. Ate what i could of it and was sticky the rest of the bike. Coming into the park I took some endurolytes.
What would you do differently?:

Need more hills, I guess I'll be going to stoney creek some more. Pay more attention to how i tape the gel.
Transition 2
  • 00m 34s
Comments:

I did some practice before the race with coming in with my feet out of my shoes and this worked out well for me.
Run
  • 27m 53s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

Couldnt get the legs moving right after the bike. Hitting the hills hard kinda toasted them. There was a lady in a different age group that passed me and I just tried to keep her just in front of me. This got the legs moving a little bit. I took a gel right out of transition and a little gatorade. At the 2nd aid station i took some water and got it up the nose. I didn't pay attention before the race on the finish shoot and one of the volunteers was pointing to turn so I turned into the grass where he was pointing. I realized i goofed got back on the road and wound up in a full out sprint with another lady that was behind me.
What would you do differently?:

I really need to work on bricks a bit more. get used to pushing fried legs. I also have to figure something out for drinking. I can't drink water out of a glass and keep running. I get water up my nose everytime.
Post race
Warm down:

walked a little. Went and cheered people on that were finishing.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My swim and my run.

Event comments:

I had a great time at this race. I will be back next year for sure!
