Total Time = 1h 37m 18s
Overall Rank = 103/189
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 16/26
Pre-race routine:

Drank a bottle of wine the night before. Not the best idea. Woke up at 0500 and got on the road at 0530 after some peanut butter toast.
Event warmup:

Swam out to the first mark and back trying to get used to the new wetsuit.
Swim
  • 15m 53s
  • 820 yards
  • 01m 56s / 100 yards
Comments:

The only flat part of the course. Decent I guess; not as fast as my typical training pace; I swam a lot of extra distance. Relatively satisfied about not being BOP.
What would you do differently?:

More practice in OW!
Transition 1
  • 02m 33s
Comments:

Westuit came off real easy. Had to sit down to put the bike shoes on. They are regular cycling shoes with two straps and a ratchet. Ran with the bike but had to stop to get on her.
Bike
  • 48m 52s
  • 15.7 miles
  • 19.28 mile/hr
Comments:

HILLY! There wasn't a flat section of road on this course. Was able to kick it on the downhills, but still struggling uphill. Downhills were too short and the uphills were too long :)
What would you do differently?:

Practice on hills more.
Transition 2
  • 01m 17s
Comments:

Did a little endo when jumping off. Hand grabbed the front brake by accident. Fun.
What would you do differently?:

Don't leave hat in backpack.
Run
  • 28m 45s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 14s  min/mile
Comments:

Struggled on the hills: up and down. Calves were crampy from the get go, and "running" downhill didn't help. Running is not forte. I am sure that I had negative splits the whole way however.
What would you do differently?:

Run more.
Post race
Warm down:

Water and gatorade. Packed up and headed back to do house chores and cut grass.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Ehh?

Event comments:

Fun course but really challenging.

nice race... helluva pace on the bike, especially with all those hills.  I don't think any of us enjoyed all those hills, especially on the run.  You're a better man than I... household chores and the grass were the last thing I was thinking about after the race!

Great job!

Great job hitting the hills on the run and bike!  To negative split the run must have taken a great amount of determination, especially on that hill by the park entrance.

As I passed one of the women  at the start of the second loop, I asked why do we do this.  She said "Bon bons."    That really lifted my spirits for some reason, and I gave me the energy to go faster.  Weird.
