Pre-race routine:

Event warmup:

Got a great spot in transition. Setup there, talked with a bunch of guys. Ran about 1K for warmup. Got into the suit and swam for 10 mins or so.
Swim
  • 12m 31s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 25s / 100 yards
Comments:

Great swim. Bit tight at the start but moved up steadily.
Swallowed a bit of water at the first bouy because of an unexpected large wave.
Transition 1
  • 01m 45s
Comments:

Much better getting out of the suit this time.
A bit dizzy but not too bad.
What would you do differently?:

Keep on practicing getting the suit of my legs.
Bike
  • 51m 21s
  • 17 miles
  • 19.86 mile/hr
Comments:

Great ride for me!! Very steady effort.
Lots of guys still passed me but I rode my own race, kept my own pace and exceeded my planned 18mi/hour pace! Again much better than last month. I was doing good and feeling good, full of positive thoughts.
What would you do differently?:

Great ride, great improvement over the bike part in the Littlefoot tri.
Keep on improving!
Transition 2
  • 01m 23s
Comments:

No problems here, try to speed it up a bit.
Run
  • 26m 29s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

Ran out of breath. I basically coasted from the hill on 51th into T2 to setup for the run but could not get my breathing under control running.
It took until the gravel path at the dam before I felt a bit comfortable, still breathing very hard and not able to push the pace I wanted.
Bit better after the turn but no real kick. Got passed by a number of guys.
What would you do differently?:

Work on endurance. I tried to control my breathing but could not.
Post race
Warm down:

I was so done after the run, what a long 5k!!!
Rested in the shade and drank two bottles of water.
After 20mins or so walked around a bit.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of endurance, ran out of breath on the run.
Need more bike strenght and endurance as well.

Event comments:

Fun race, great venue and organization and my best race so far!!
Awesome day.

You had a great race!  That stretch of run was long and hot but crossing the finish line was awesome.

Nice race!!  That was a smokin swim   I'm sure the heat didn't help with the run out there.  It was a difficult run yesterday for me too!  Nice work - Keep it up

It's all about running your race and it sounds like you did a great job.  That little hill at the beginning of the run really does seem to sap the life right out of your legs doesn't it?  You seemed to handle it well though.  Nice race.
