Subject: wetsuit hanger
Hi, I just bought a wet suit and I was wondering about the wetsuit hanger.

do I HAVE to buy a hanger made for wetsuit, or would a regular, strong hanger do the job?

thanks

Emilio from desoto sports recommends folding it.

I've used a finished wood hangar w/o problems for years.  Just make sure you don't leave it crumpled up and wet and it'll do right by you.

Some schools of thought say if you store it folded you will get creases in it...which may lead to splitting or cracking along those lines. If you are going to fold it I would recommend some type of tube "inside" the fold so it is sort of rounded rather than a fold. Gift wrapping tubes may be a bit big for this but it would probably work. Just cut them down....one tube should work for one wetsuit...just cut it in half since you only need two.

We stored our folded in the same manner they were shipped to us and had no problems but now they lay flat under the bed and that seems to be the best for us.

I would see what the manufacture suggest.  I have read the suggest laying flat under your bed but that is not always possible.  For now mine is hanging with the hanger that was in the box when I got it.  I would assume that since they gave me a hanger I can hang it up.  It was a little stronger hanger though.

I just use a plastic hanger then wrap a shirt around the shoulder area of the hanger for extra padding, works great so far. DO NOT use a wire hanger, I am sure someone has told you that!!

Focker out! - 2007-06-18 12:06 PM I just use a plastic hanger then wrap a shirt around the shoulder area of the hanger for extra padding, works great so far. DO NOT use a wire hanger, I am sure someone has told you that!!

Also have seen people take that foam pipe insulation that is split up the sides and pad the hangers with it.

In the infamous words of Joan Crawford, "NO WIRE HANGERS!"  Yes, Mommie Dearest....
