Overcast
Total Time = 2h 00m 25s
Overall Rank = 151/373
Age Group = 30-35
Age Group Rank = 89/
Pre-race routine:

Get some oatmeal, coffee, toast, juice, water, and gatorade. Get to the venue and scope out a sweet spot for T1 & T2.
Event warmup:

Warm-up is
Swim
  • 09m 36s
  • 500 meters
  • 01m 55s / 100 meters
Comments:

The swim felt good. Longer sessions at the pool with at least two workouts for 500.
What would you do differently?:

I would have headed closer to the rope as I was coming to the end of the lap. It'd make switching lanes easier.
Transition 1
  • 03m
Comments:

I was going to rubber band my shoes to my bike so I could jump on and go. But, I chose to run it out instead.
What would you do differently?:

Be more deliberate in my selection of what I'm going to wear on the bike. But I am glad I put my socks on and it was easier on T2.
Bike
  • 1h 10m 11s
  • 21 miles
  • 17.95 mile/hr
Comments:

I had a leg cramp about half way through. I need to work on nutrition and maybe some solid food for the bike. Overall, I felt like I kicked butt on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Take solid foods and gatorade instead of amp/water mix.
Transition 2
  • 01m
Comments:

My T1 time was good for me. I should have pedaled more to get my legs going for the run. I tried to take a nuun tab with me.
What would you do differently?:

Electrolites in a water bottle waiting for me.
Run
  • 40m 38s
  • 4.8 miles
  • 08m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

The aide stations were a little too far from each other, but I guess the RD did what they could considering the area we had to run in.
What would you do differently?:

Run more, take a bottle with water and some nuun in it. I could have pushed harder if I was better hydrated.
Post race
Warm down:

I didn't walk if off the run afterwards, but I still felt good. Burritos and water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

A bad night of not enough rest.

Event comments:

I'm getting ready now to do the fall race.

Age Group: 89/
Overall: 151/373
Performance: Good
Suit: Singlet and short race bottom
Course: The pool was nice and cool. The serpentine course wasn't too bad. I passed at least four others. Getting out of the pool seemed a little tougher than I thought it would be. Over all, I took the swim with a little less intensity. Switching lanes was a pain, but okay.

Course: The course was mainly flat. But there were some on-ramps and steady inclines leaving and coming back to T2 that were challenging. Going over the railroad crossing made me nervous for my wheels. It was nice to go through the farm fields.

It took me at least 150 yards to bet my legs going. It took the turn around for me to feel good and pound away. It was hard to take in water and electrolytes on the run.
Course: It was nice to run through the neighborhoods and see the scenery change. It was hard to stay hydrated/cool while running.
