Swim
Comments: I need to practice a lot more. I'm afraid of either kicking someone or getting kicked so I will do the crawl for a few strokes then I end up looking up and start doing the breastroke to stay away from people and staying on course. What would you do differently?: Not worry so much about getting kicked or kicking other people and just concentrate on swimming 6 strokes and looking up then going back to crawl and so on Transition 1
Comments: Took awhile & I think the reason why is from coming out of the water to the transition area was a run up a hill that was in the woods. They didn't have any type of mat so you couldn't run too fast and had to be careful not to step on rocks. Could've twisted ankle pretty easily.I went to my bike pretty quickly since I had a bright pink towel and had a bright pink Lei on my bike. Bike
Comments: I really pushed it in the beginning and probably pushed it a little too hard. My HR was up at 205. Once I turned onto a less traffic road I drank some water and HR went down. There were other racers that were doing things they should not have been. One lady was riding on the left near the yellow ling and I couldn't get around her. She was waving at her husband & kids. One of my friends, who I didn't realize was behind me, yelled out at her to move over to the right. She said she was sorry and we passed her. Then in the middle of the ride this lady who looked pretty experienced was riding right in the middle of the lane and she was blocking me from passing. I was really annoyed. Another lady was wearing an ipod for the whole race and so when I yelled. "I'm on your left!" she couldn't hear me. I felt really good on the bike and it was an easy course. What would you do differently?: Go Faster and be more assertive with people. Transition 2
Comments: T2 went okay. I ate a gel block and drank some water. Run
Comments: I ran with Heather for some of the run. We kept each other motivated. Post race
Warm down: I sprinted at the end toward the finish line and went all out. I had to catch my breath after the race and walk around for awhile. I almost felt like I was going to faint. I stretched out for awhile and drank some drink that the guy at the finish line gave me. What limited your ability to perform faster: Need to practice more OWS and not worry about people around me in the water. Definitely need to work on my running and run more in my training. Event comments: Excellent race lot of fun volunteers did an excellent job very well run They also had FREE BEER I thought that was pretty cool. I didn't drink anything since I was driving. The only downside is the race is not spectator friendly at all. They lock the gates to the park at 6:00 am so if any family come to cheer you on after that they have to park at least 2.2 miles away. I told my husband not to come since we have 3 year old twins and they would've been very ansy. Last updated: 2007-06-18 12:00 AM
