Tristate Multisport Association

Sunny
Total Time = 1h 32m 16s
Overall Rank = 37/119
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 6/13
Event warmup:

Got in the water and swam 100-200 feet. Just enough to get wet and used to the water temp.
Swim
  • 11m 35s
  • 710 yards
  • 01m 38s / 100 yards
Comments:

My goal in this race was to attack the swim - to actually race the swim rather than just survive it, as in my first two tris. I accomplished that goal. I kept my emotions in check much better.
What would you do differently?:

I did the best I knew how. The best I can do is just get stronger and faster.
Transition 1
  • 02m 8s
Comments:

Wetsuit got stuck on my calves. Because of the cold I put on a dry jersey. Another big mistake, because I was not used to this - I put my helmet on first and then tried to put my jersey on. I did it, but it cost me time.
What would you do differently?:

Not screw up like that. I think it cost me
Bike
  • 55m 14s
  • 16.5 miles
  • 17.92 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt pretty strong but I felt the results of pushing the swim harder.
Transition 2
  • 00m 42s
Comments:

Pretty fast transition for me.
Run
  • 22m 37s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 18s  min/mile
Comments:

Legs felt heavy in the first mile. I didn't think my pace was as good as it turned out to be. I was happy with the time I recorded.
Post race
Event comments:

Good small race by my own club. May our tribe increase!

Geez, nice times! I look forward to continuing to work out and see how my times improve for next year. If I can keep from having to drag the extra Labrador Retriever's amount of weight up those hills, I should be able to do a lot better. Great race, lots of fun.

Thanks! And congrats to you on the start of your triathlon career. Be careful, it's addicting. I'm mourning the end of my season. Now I'm turning my attention to training for the Philadelphia Marathon in November.

Peace!

Cool that you got into NYC. How many times did you have to wait or do you have an exemption or something from previous years?

Funny you mention that ....I have always been a lucky guy and got in on my 1st try. I signed up b/c I wanted to run it w/ my sister but she got denied for the 3rd straight time, which means she is automatically in for next year. I considering deferring until next year but decided against it once found out that I lose my entry $.
