OWS and SCT ride on July 7 (Page 2)

I'm a strong *Tentative*

As I'm missing the Century this weekend due to County, I might do a long (60+) ride next Saturday...though a swim and 42 miles might also work...we'll see as the week progresses.

Dang. Y'all would have to plan a swim/ride on the other side of the world (yes, 90 miles is the other side of, well, Atlanta). And no IHOP, to boot. Booo. I'm a maybe. And maybe may be a yes, maybe. Mindy, if you want to go, I think it's my turn to drive.

Edit: Scratch that. I'm heading to south Georgia that Saturday for a family cookout. Booo.

Adam may come along too! (awodb11) If anyone gets a chance, would you mind sending him an "inspire me" word or two? He can be a little shy at meeting new people (unlike me!) and I think he is feeling a little left out because I have a good number of "inspire me" words from ya'll and he doesn't have any...pitaful, I know but I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

I'm really looking forward to meeting you all It'll be good to put faces with usernames!

This almost sounds tempting.  Wait.  What am I thinking???

I was left off the list too, even as a tentative.  But I think I'm in! I should be there if I can drag my rear out of bed early Saturday morning. (planning to stay in Roswell Friday night, that shows how much I like you guys )

I am tentatively in unless someone (I was thinking maybe Brett) would like to do the Cartersville Century with me.  I am feeling a bit unfufilled since I did not finish my ride Saturday.

If you don't get an takers for the century, I am interested in riding longer on Saturday - I was thinking maybe 60miles or so?

It was actually Allatoona from the beginning.  If you scroll back to the first post you can see it.  I think Courtney wanted to be able to swim and then ride at the SCT afterward and Allatoona is a lot closer to the SCT than Lanier.

Go ahead and swim, Mike! I'm a crappy crappy swimmer but figured doing this OWS will only help me to get better. I promise I'll be bringing up the rear so no worries!

Swimming slowly is not the problem... drowning is the problem.    All kidding aside, we are doing this without a boat to watch us so no on should bite off more than they can chew.

No worries.  I'll probably do the swim but I have mapped out a few options for folks on the route planner for BT.  I've got a 433 yd option, a 546 yd option, a 600 yd option and a 863 yd option.  Of course these are all estimates but give you a feel for where you are going depending on which point you head towards.

I mainly want to come out and see everyone.  It's been a while and I miss you guys.

Sorry, Neal. Wasn't trying to imply someone should bite of more than they can chew...just not to be intimidated about going with a bunch of rockin' BTers such as you guys! =)

Nothing to be sorry about.    If you see my signature, you can tell I am a bit cautious in deep dark water.   A lady drowned during St. Anthony's and there were lots of boats there to watch for people.  Most of these open water swims that we do are somewhat dangerous because we are all swimming and not really looking out for each other as well as we could.  If someone gets in trouble, there may not be anyone close to them to help but at least with several people the chances are in your favor.   It would be much safer if we had a least on boat at each swim, but we are all willing to risk it.  As Felix's goals heading says there is a fine line between courage and stupidity.  I have crossed it many, many, many times.   I look forward to meeting you Saturday.

Does anyone have access to a kayak? Neal's right, it's safer to swim with a bunch of people but we don't have anyone in a kayak if they get in trouble. If we can get one, I'll volunteer to take the first 'watch' in a kayak, so to speak.
