Is any one going to be doing this Tri in Colorado Springs on Aug 4th? I was wondering if anyone knows much about this race. I was wanting to sign up but don't know much about it.

I'm considering doing this race too, but haven't signed up or mentally committed myself yet.  If I remember, registration is fairly inexpensive.  I know absolutely nothing about the course though.

I believe they are doing the same course as last year, prior to that the course seemed to change every year.  I did it in 2004 as my first Tri.  It was a 400 m pool swim and everything was done on Ft Carson.  Not having anything else to compare it to a the time, I thought it was well organized and run.

If you have family coming with you, there is a good chance to watch other sports too.  After the race, we went and watched the Ice Skating competition (my little girls loved that)

For CO residents I think it is  $45 up to the July 20th and $50 after that.

I did it last year as my first ever.  It was a pretty good event.  The swim is in the lake, the bike was a closed course with some rolling hills and the run was around the lake.  All in all not too bad an event.  I would do it this year but I have the 5430 long course the following weekend.

I was supposed to do this one last year and I might go ahead and do it this year, but I heard the bike is kinda rough. 4 loops that include a couple steep, but short climbs. Other than that, it's inexpensive and in a nice location ~
