Event warmup:

none
Swim
  • 26m 44s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 38s / 100 yards
Comments:

Good swim! Almost 10 1/2 min faster than last year. Good coaching, more swims and less current to fight in this year's course.
What would you do differently?:

Increase pace. Did not start agressively enough, nor did I 'hit the hammer' like I should have.

Did not drink much hour before race, but 20ozs 1.5 hrs before of accelerade...maybe paid for it during the last 5k of the run.
Transition 1
  • 01m 47s
Comments:

good transition.
What would you do differently?:

pull off suit while putting on helmet...maybe try without socks
Bike
  • 1h 09m 43s
  • 23 miles
  • 19.79 mile/hr
Comments:

Need to work on bike, avg. MPH should be 21 for 08!
What would you do differently?:

go faster, drink more liquids earlier.

Ate two hammer gels...maybe should have had a third at the end and ate every 1/2 hour instead of 40-45min
Transition 2
  • 00m 53s
Run
  • 1h 06m 25s
  • 6.8 miles
  • 09m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

Run was by far my worst. Dead legs with dehydration, really struggled last 4 miles. Cramps most of run portion.
What would you do differently?:

drink more right before swim, early bike and more than one gel.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

dehydration, need more bike and run work. More bike/run bricks

Event comments:

Good, fun race. Beautiful Detroit/Windsor location, clean, clear water and flat & fast bike. Run is made more challenging by 3/4 mile (X2 for OLY distance) paved trail run that is VERY uneven and somewhat treacherous.
