I'm now addicted to one-hour bottles (made with pink lemonade crystal light) on long bikes and bricks.  I don't like it, but it's more than tolerable and I feel great on the workouts.

... I still can't stand the multi-hour bottle chased with water.

I tried Perpeteum based on a recommendation from a friend and did not like the chalky texture. I've been drinking orange Accelerade and like the taste until it gets warm. Is it possible to concentrate for longer distances? I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to mix this stuff on the bike.

I have to agree. YUCK. But it does the job. If they could only improve the taste. I have tried it twice and mixed in a gel the second time. Not so bad.

I have been using Ultragen as my all purpose drink. Tastes decent and has all the goods.
Not sure if it is the best pre work out drink,(since it is a recovery drink), but it has been working so far.

As far as Perpetuem we stick mainly to the orange flavor but have a jug of the "plain" as well. When I have to use the plain flavor I usually add a Hammer Gel to give it some flavor. While I don't think the flavor of any of these supplements is "good" I do have to say that the Hammer products taste best when you are working hard. Sitting in your kitchen drinking Heed or Perpetuem for a taste test is not an accurate way to do it. They have just the right amount of sweetness/flavor to taste right when pushing to the limit.

Hope that makes sense.

33 mile bike ride on a hot day, at mile 25, it still tasted like pancake batter, and this was orange creamsicle flavor, which I couldn't taste the flavor at all. Just watered down Bisquick. I'll give it one more try with the Crystal Light, but shouldn't have to flavor my pancake batter to drink it.

I'm sensing a trend that you either love or hate the stuff. I tried it and hated it. The pancake batter refence seems to be a close description. All the people hurling it up by the side of the road at IM CDA '06 sealed the deal for me. even the website says it shouldn't be used in the heat if it's going to be out for more than 3 hours. The protein denatures...
