Total Time = 00m
Overall Rank = 175/183
Age Group = 45-49 Male
Age Group Rank = 23/23
Pre-race routine:

Met up with friend and went together. Wave start wasn't until 10:15 for me and 10:30 for him, but we met at about 7am and got Brampton by 7:30. Plenty of time to park and get acclimated with the area. Hung around the beach area and watched the KOS group race. Then get ready and put my big toe in the water to test the temp. Felt cold.
Event warmup:

Put my big tow in the water. Lots of walking around (from the parking to the transition, to the beach and back to the transsition and back to the beach.
Swim
  • 22m 54s
  • 750 meters
  • 03m 03s / 100 meters
Comments:

Ended up doing breast stroke most of the time. First few hundred metres was freestyle, but then lost rythm and felt more comfortable with the breast stroke.
What would you do differently?:

Need to practice the freestyle more.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

No timing for Transitions for this race. They are included in the segment times.
What would you do differently?:

Spent some time getting socks on. Need to practice this more.
Bike
  • 50m 17s
  • 20 kms
  • 23.86 km/hr
Comments:

Rough when going against the wind. Course was nicely and with the many turn arounds was a little challenging.
What would you do differently?:

Practice more cycling and turn arounds.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Couldn't find my position on the rack. Took a minute to find it. Had missed it my going passed it.

Once racked, was ok and got in to running shoed pretty quickly.
What would you do differently?:

Find position quicker.
Run
  • 34m 11s
  • 5 kms
  • 06m 50s  min/km
Comments:

Felt heavy and sluggish. While there was not hills to speak of, there were some minor inclines that seemed to be pretty hard.
What would you do differently?:

Practice with Brick sessions.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and found friends. A little stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Practice. Practice and more practice

Event comments:

Overall a good gauge of where I am, and I definitely need work and practice.

Thanks for the comment. Yeah the wind was harded than I expected and being a bit bigger than most of the guys there, there was a lot of resistance.
