Ok so either my scale is broken or my weight is just really really crazy.  This morning I weighed in at 214.6!!!  That's almost 7 lbs lighter than last week....4lbs lighter than my last good weigh-in before last week's jump.  I guess it's possible, but I was just so totally surprised to see that number on the scale this morning!  I've been right around the 216 mark all week (which is a huge number for me b/c that's 20lbs sine i started) but I guess now i've officially past it.

Sappho,  STEP AWAY FROM THE BUFFET!!!

Willow,  Maintaining is great.  You will one day soon just drop a bunch.  Good job.

Lil Turtle,  It may partially come back,  but it is a downward trend that we are embracing.  I would kick roomies butt for putting my bike on the porch,,Poor Judy.

Well today I'm an even 214, so this downward trend seems to be continuing!  Still I won't be too upset if some comes back, since that was a lot to lose in a week, but maybe my heavy weight last week was a fluke and not this one. I guess I'll wait and see for next week, but so far so good!

I seem to have settled on an "ideal" weight, however I'm officially reporting 199.8 from the 4th.  Today was 200, despite eating more junky food and not working out at all yesterday.  And, I'm hungry all the time.   Just for grins, after my full tri training session on Sunday, I was still only 196.  I must have packed on some heavier muscle somewhere.

Hey MissCullen - did you look south last night and see the fireworks?  I know you folks in BC are jonesing to bail on the Queen.  Come join us.  I think BC would make a great 51st state, and provide a link to Alaska.  We could then build large superhighways and make travel up there a breeze, destroying forests and rivers in the process.  On the other hand, we like the exchange rate and the ability to travel to a "foreign" country quite easily.  On second thought, y'all stay as you are.  BC is better that way.

Startin,  Way to go...Love seeing numbers go DOWN.

DB.  You must be drinking right during your training,  I ALWAYS lose 1-2 lbs.

lil turtle,  I am pulling for you to keep that downward trend.  I just don't want you to get disappointed if it bumps a little.

Comet,  Sure you can have A beer after that long run.

Keep up the good work gang.

Comet,  You just have to make it hard don't ya?  LOL

A 4-6 mile run for a 32 or a 8-12 miler for a 64.  Which one are you up for?Surprised  I am just going for a simple 10 mile bike ride and an approx. 5 mile run.  Then a nice bowl of Honey bunches of oats.......mmmmm.   I have to run too much for a beer...LOL

You can have any beer you like after a run, just not too many.  We only went 2.8 last night but then consumed 3 beers.  Let me 'splain.  We were three guys and each beer was split into roughly thirds.  It's a good way to enjoy a post run beverage without actually drinking too much.  To top it off, this a.m. I was 198.

Question: How can I drink beer so it doesn't affect my performance?
—Marc, Montreal, Quebec

Answer: We’ve got good news for you, Marc. A beer with dinner, or while watching the game, won’t destroy your strength and endurance. However, alcohol right after a big workout isn’t going to help you recover for tomorrow’s training. Immediately after you wrap up any exercise, you need to focus on downing a carb-rich recovery drink that contains electrolytes. Then eat a full meal within an hour of finishing your workout to take advantage of the “glycogen window” that enables you to replenish your carbohydrate stores rapidly.

Beer’s perception as a carb-rich liquid is plain wrong. In reality, the alcohol is primarily metabolized into fatty acids rather than to usable carbohydrate energy. Yes, beer originated as carbohydrate—in the form of grains—but now it’s alcohol, and your body treats it differently by shooting it straight to your waistline as fat.

That said, be our guest to cracking open a bottle or two later in the evening. Just remember to do your body’s hydration status a favor and chase each bottle with a full pint of water.

Cheers,
Abby Ruby, CTS Coach
