Comments: My goal was just to keep it as close to 10 minute miles as possible. I didn't think I had a chance at under that, 11 minute miles was more likely at this distance. I felt like I was getting passed by everyone! At mile 2 I was at about 20:30 and at mile 4 I was at about 40:50 something, so I pushed hard the last mile accelerating the closer I got to the finish. I only walked through the two water stops. What would you do differently?: Nothing, I had enough for the sprint at the end, but nothing after that. Post race
Warm down: Pacing back and forth, I just didn't feel like I should stop moving. I was planning where I would run to puke. 1/2 later I ran the 100 yard dash with my three year old. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training. Not that I think I should have run faster. I'm building slowly and feel this was a great run for me. Event comments: This race was a great start to the 4th! Could use more restroom facilities, maybe some on the course. I really enjoyed the kids race! Last updated: 2007-07-05 12:00 AM

1 egg for breakfast 1:30 before the race, slimfast shake on the way, part of a PowerBar Triple Threat immediately before walking to the start line. Also, drank a little water and a few sips of Coke to settle my stomach. Only one pee break once I reached the race site, mostly because of long lines.
Just walking around. 5 miles is long enough for me that I didn't want to use to much energy warming up. I took it real easy early.
