Thinking about going to the Steelhead HIM to watch, and learn. However, not sure if watching, is something that is very feasible. Since the course is so spread out, can people watchers see very much? Is it such a mad house that watching is totally out of the question? Can a newbie learn anything from watching Steelhead?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure where you are located but I'm registered for this year's race... the best thing I've done so far is get a course map and ride the bike course.

Jean Klock park will be pretty jam-packed, so expect a significant walk to get to the transition area.  You can watch most of the swim from the beach (it's a point-to-point swim with the direction determined a day or two before the race).  It wouldn't be too bad to find a hang-out spot along either the bike or run course.

The other option would be to volunteer.  (That's what we're doing this year.

So...BCYoder and anyone else who did the race, how'd you do?  My training buddies and I did the relay so we could check the race out and, my hat is off to you!  It looked like a tough race and I admire everyone who did it.  Can't wait to read some race reports!

I'd do my report tomorrow but I was 5:54... I'm happy with the effort and it was an awesome time! I ran for about 4 miles with someone on a relay team who saved me (just being able to talk to someone)... Thanks for asking! How did your relay team do?

Congrats!  And this will make you feel even better - my relay team did a 6:15.  The three of us couldn't keep up with you!
